- Louisiana Proposes Changes for Commercial Grouper, Tile Fish and Other Reef Fish
At its March 4, 2010, meeting, the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission issued a Notice of Intent to modify several parts of the rules for commercial harvest of reef fish including groupers, tilefishes, and red snapper. The purpose of these proposed rules is to provide regulations that are more consistent with regulations in place in federal waters offshore of Louisiana.

BROOKLYN CENTER, MN - Wildlife Forever is proud to announce that students living in Tennessee and Wyoming who enter the 12th annual State-Fish Art Contest, will receive free Rapala fishing lures. The "Guaranteed Catch" incentive works to increase participation with the contest and engage youth to fish and fishing. - Recreational anglers angry about South Coast MLPA Process
Sacramento, CA -- March 4, 2010 -- As part of the South Coast region's Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) process, yesterday the California Fish and Game Commission (FGC) voted to only keep in consideration the alternative created by the Blue Ribbon Task Force (BRTF). The Commission's action effectively terminates consideration of the three proposals created by the citizens selected to participate in the process. This includes Proposal 2, which is supported by the Partnership for Sustainable Oceans (PSO) and the recreational fishing and boating community in Southern California.
- Annual Lake Eaton youth fishing derby set this month
Spring in Marion County means it's time for the annual Lake Eaton Kids' Fishing Derby at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's (FWC) Ocala Conservation Center and Youth Camp in the Ocala National Forest. There are two derbies - March 20 and 27 - from 8:30 a.m. until noon for children ages 5-12.

The hydrilla treatment by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and Orange County for Lake Lawne, which was postponed due to cold weather in February, has been rescheduled for March 10-11.
- Purdue wins FLW College division event on Bull Shoals
BRANSON, Mo. (March 6, 2010) - The Purdue University team of Chad Dunham and Alex Lowe won the National Guard FLW College Fishing Central Division event on Bull Shoals Lake Saturday with three bass weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces. The victory earned the team $10,000 to be split evenly between the university and the university's bass-fishing club. The win also helped them advance to the Central Division Regional Championship where they could ultimately win a Ranger 177TR with a 90-horsepower engine wrapped in school colors for their school's club and $25,000 for the school they represent.

BRANSON, Mo. (March 6, 2010) - National Guard pro Brent Ehrler of Redlands, Calif., caught a five-bass limit weighing 16 pounds, 13 ounces Saturday to win $125,000 at the FLW Tour event presented by Cabela's on Table Rock Lake with a four-day catch of 20-bass weighing 69-11.

THE DALLES, Ore. – A sport fishing season for spring chinook in the Hood River will begin April 15 under temporary rules adopted by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
